It's been a while. I've just finished my first week of classes. They were great. I'm excited about my Victorian Lit class. We did the overview and my professor was saying that a lot of the topics we would be covering were "stoner" issues. That is right up my alley (talking about where humanity is in the universe).
I'm watching Pride and Prejudice (the newest one). It's my favorite. Now I love Colin Firth and the old one a lot but there is just something about this new one that I love. Whenever I watch movies I feel like I can see them being made. Like I can feel the set. I like how this movie doesn't have that awkward British humor. Now I love my British comedies just as much as the rest of the world but that doesn't mean the humor isn't just ever so very much British (clearly).
mmm Summer Saugsage. Don't you just love a slice of Summer Sausage on a Ritz?
But this movie, this story I suppose, is very pan-generational in a way. Sometimes I see the way that one of the characters is on screen and I just see that they are acting. I guess this is like what I was saying earlier. But I see how they react to certain things because that's the way they are written but in my head its a bit overdramatic or something and I just think, "What's the big deal?"
My favorite scene. In the drawing room. Mr. Darcy is writing. I love how Mr. Bingley just looks like a big goof when he laughs at Elizabeth's joke. Goob.
I like to watch this movie with the commentary because the movie is quiet itself and the commentary is too, so it will just relax you into a coma. I wish we still dressed nicer. Like a guy walking down the road in tails and women always wearing dresses. So fancy! It could be updated of course to current fashions. Mmmm Matthew Macfadyen is so yummy. I want an english style home with all the different rooms and such. 'Twill be a goal I have for my perfect house.
Aw Lizzy loves her sisters so much. I love the hand moment when Mr. Darcy helps Lizzy into the carriage. Most beautiful.
I used to not care too much for Kiera Knightly until this movie and also The Jacket (with Adrien Brody [HOT!]). I think she did such a good job. And when I watched the commentary the producer talked about how she was very still between takes and saved all her energy for acting the scene. I respect that kind of passion.
I am thinking that I want to get a blacklight tattoo. I would tell you what I want to get but then you might steal my idea then it wouldn't be as special. But don't worry, when I get it I will certainly share some pictures.
What do you think about scarification?
I love all the angles and the layout of this movie. How the camera moves is so nice.
I'm taking an art class so you can expect to get some pictures of my work in the future. Speaking of my work I wrote a little poem, well it was a note I left myself when I was taking a plane flight back home from my mom's house in West Virginia (so I found my poem again just now) and I thought it felt like a poem when I read it so I thought I'd share it with you.
Don't Forget
Don't forget the way the sun shone
through the windows on the plane
and lit up the opposite side of the cabin
in circles like small swaths of fire.
Song of the day is The Hardest Button to Button by the White Stripes!!
This is such a good song. Make sure you listen to the lyrics because they are awesomesauce.
Crisply,
Mav
PS: I definitely need to host a ball. We could dress the period, but the music will be more current.

Flight (a poem)
I thought it would be like water and see the reflection of the stars but it was clouds. Clouds lifting and pushing against the cabin, they glow from the city and become mountains and they are beautiful and I am glad it's nighttime so I can see this happen. Radio towers pulse like lightning, streaks across the horizon that waver like a mirage. Tangible and unattainable. Light and water redefining the landscape as if it were clay.
Blind Man (a poem)
I wrote a song about a traveling blind
man and played it in a New York
subway. The eyes of my passing
audience were vibrant, scrutinizing
and distracted so I turned around
and played to the wall and let the
echo pummel my face. My song
ended and I heard a few thumps in my
donation box. When I turned around
an old man with bleary eyes was
smiling. "I like your song," he said and
then he took the hand of the woman
next to him and she led him down the way.

Chronological Tick Tock
So it's been a few days. I'm getting settled back in here. I have training for my job every spring and fall and we had our first day of spring training today. Luckily our last day of spring training is tomorrow so it's not so bad.
Did anyone watch Conan last night? Hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard at him in a long time. Everything was about sex. It was fabulous. Kate Beckinsale was hot. She is definitely one of the women I would have sex with. I'd also do Scarlet Johansson.
I need to find a stamp.
I was thinking about my perfect house. I think it would be a lighthouse. On the side of a ravine if possible. If not that is also acceptable. I want it to be solid though. It can't be all rickety and about to fall over. It will have a fireplace with a tall chimney. The stairs will line the wall, with 3 floors within the lighthouse tower itself. I'd prefer it to be in the Mojave Desert or something. Somewhere I can paint and grow and be enlightened. I would have solar panels as well. Of course there are the apocalypse fortifications.
I'm trying to get back on track with my daily rhythm. Every night I've been going to sleep a little earlier. My goal is to not to stay up past 2:15 am (ish). But I had to get up at 8 am so going to sleep at 4:00 am last night I am actually kind of tired.
This upcoming is my final semester and I'll have my 2nd degree. My first was in anthropology and this one will be in English.
I was talking with my friend Micah, and he was saying that there are only two ways to react to drugs. You either don't use them or you are abusing them. There is no okay zone. And it made me wonder where is the line drawn?
Song of the day is Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons!
Alternate song of the day is Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis!!
Movie of the week is 28 Days Later!!
If you've never seen this movie it is one of my favorites! It's about zombies. 0_O And one of the main actors is Cillian Murphy who is awesome! He was also the Scarecrow in Batman Begins and the bad guy in Red Eye with Rachel McAdams. So watch it because it's great.

Back to Reality
Today I checked my mail and there was a letter from World Poetry Organization (Association?) and it said on the front FINALIST RESULTS! and the first thought that went through my head was "Why would they send me this. It's not like I'm a finalist." And I open it and it says we loved your poem. Let's publish it. I stood there in shock but as I read through they really did want to publish my poem. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!
Here is the poem: Zombie
When I presented this poem in my workshop the professor was like you need to cut out over half of this. Everyone else in my class loved it. I took out about 3 words haha. I'm glad that's all I did. In your face professor man!!
I had an Old English professor once who limited his family to 3 exclamation points a day. That's just so ridiculous. He is a nut though.
I feel like a hack.
My holiday is over. I drove back to Oxford today.
So I'm watching this show called Being Human with my friend Phillip on Netflix. And it's about these people who are afflicted with some 19th century fairytale disease like werewolfism or vampireism or ghostness and they are trying to be normal and go about their lives but its turned into a mopey oh look at me I'm not normal. Poor me. Who cares if you are different. You should take pride in how special you are. The werewolf guy is kinda cute though. He looks like a puppy when he is being human. I want to watch him change though.
Oh shit it just sucked me in. Everyone watch Being Human because its good.
I wouldn't want to be a werewolf because you'd have to go through all that body changing pain. That would be horrible.

Here is the poem: Zombie
chemo-thinned hair, strung across an oxygen deprived skull,
shone silver against the splotched,
dark dermis
blue veins clouded once-brown eyes,
hidden behind half-closed lids
matted with salty dross
lips crusted in a sticky residue of spittle,
velcroed to a gaping mandible
hung on weak joints
gasping breaths, ceding
into barely audible inhales
signal the end
decrepit body pressed into the mattress
a final attempt at being undead,
not dead

In a Technicolor Dream World
Last night I was in the most beautiful place. I went there with my best friend, Joe. It got me to thinking that the way the world is is just so pointless. There is so much greed and hate and want to control. We need to appreciate everything that is around because we are it. The human element makes this whole world possible. We created it.
I was very connected to Joe. It seemed as if our auras were touching. Our very beings were intertwining. If you have never felt this with anyone then you are missing out. Because a human being is so big. Bigger than the universe and everything inside of it. I used to think that my ideas were as big as the universe. This was before we knew the universe had an ending to it. Now I feel as if me and my ideas are so much bigger than the universe. As soon as you can calculate its bigness then its no longer so grand. But the things in life that are really important are endless. Like ideas and emotions. When I was connecting with Joe it was as if our endlessness had become the same. It's something powerful accept someone else's endlessness and its so beautifully content. When you can accept everything that someone is and isn't and could and can't be. That's bigger than anything.

you are now entering the twilight zone
So today I went on a quest to buy incense. It started in line at the License Office with my biffle, Allison. I had to get a replacement ID because I lost mine in the Atlanta airport. And I'm pulling into the parking lot and I go to park and I'm cutting it close. I mean not even an inch. But I am so sure I would have made it. And this woman stops walking by and stands there and stares with this bitch look on her face. In my head I'm yelling, "What Grandma! Wanna do something!" but my face just makes a goofy smile and I go into reverse as she stares. Allison was freaking out because she does that. I parked safer the second time but I am almost completely positive I would have made it.
The face lady from the parking lot incident was in front of me in line and when she went up to get her picture retaken I may have made a snide remark that she may or may not have heard. My new picture is a thousand times better than my last one. I looked like I just got arrested for manslaughter. It was horrible. This one improves upon it tenfold. Once I had my new ID I headed to this place 2nd and Charles (you can trade and give books for money and you can buy as well. Its awesome!) and I took a box of books to hand in. Mostly manga, but also my hardback Harry Potter first editions (haha) and my Inheritance firsties (books 1,2,3) hardback too and a couple other things. And you know I went in expecting to get at least $20 and I broke that and got $31. But here is the kicker...I needed the cash, but if I had gotten store credit I would have gotten $70. That's crazy!! More than twice as much! I almost did it to and just shelled out another 30 and got this nice new record player, but no I didn't. I had to go buy incense! In fact I made it out of that bookstore without buying a single book and with 31 more dollars than I had going in! Yay!
So we go to the mall and Allison needed a pink tanktop and I needed incense so I needed to go to Spencer's. Which we parked on the clear other side of the mall from it. Because I didn't know where it was. I do now...R2. So we stop at all these stores on the way to Spencer's and there were some we were like we'll hit on the way back. At Spencer's their incense were all crap but I did find a black lightbulb and bought that. Then we stopped at all the stores then checked Macy's where Allison finally found the perfect shirt. Then she gets home and puts it on and it rips. -_-
So we go down to Cloud Nine and look at their incense and I get some, but I stood there sniffing and resniffing for like 10 minutes before I decided. Nowhere carries my favorite kind anymore. I can find it online but after tax and shipping its like $8 a pack. And I think it's worth it but it wears on the wallet. I get home with my new incense and I'm trying them right now and I'm fairly satisfied. It's good to know I have something that can sort of hold me over until I get the good kind. I would give you the name, but then you will want it and that means less for me. I'm selfish. I know.

PS: Allison found my other earring on the floor amongst the many fibers of my carpet. I was extremely joyful!
